We conducted the successful migration of the CoreMedia platform from version 7 to version 9 in close collaboration with a major German textbook publisher. The project was carried out by an experienced team consisting of 3 developers within a timeframe of 3 months. This migration brought significant improvements and enabled an optimized utilization of the platform.

As part of the migration, the following steps were carried out:

Setting up a “greenfield” CoreMedia Blueprint: We established a new CoreMedia Blueprint environment based on version 9. In doing so, we created a clean and optimized environment to facilitate future migrations and integrate all necessary functionalities.

Migration of all functionalities into the Blueprint: We migrated all functionalities from the old CoreMedia version 7 into the new CoreMedia Blueprint. During this process, all necessary adjustments and configurations were made to ensure seamless integration and smooth functionality.

Migration of the MySQL database to PostgreSQL: We carried out the database migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL. During this process, the data from the old database was extracted, transformed, and migrated into the new database. This ensured improved performance, scalability, and security of the platform.

Migration of CoreMedia Studio extensions: We conducted a comprehensive migration of the CoreMedia Studio extensions to adapt them to the new CoreMedia version 9. During this process, the existing EXML extensions were converted into the new MXML format to ensure smooth integration and compatibility.

Through this successful migration, the educational publisher was able to benefit from the enhanced features and optimized performance of the CoreMedia platform in version 9. The transition to the new CoreMedia Blueprint has enabled more efficient content management and an improved user experience for the customers of the educational publisher.
